My friend Mark Wood, a great trumpet player and a great photographer asked me to create a video montage using images he took on Inauguration Day 2009. I chose the Frank Ticheli arrangement of "Simple Gifts" as the music. The United States Army Ceremonial Band recorded this particular performance for the video. I used Mark's photos, as well as others, to tell the story of that day. I built the story line around the music and incorporated excerpts of President Obama's speech that I felt spoke to the hopes of all of us that day. The video became part of a multi-media live performance by The United States Army Ceremonial Band.
